Ätankontu is an artistic project mainly based on textile printing. They transfer their graphic works to a textile format, playing with the boundaries between art and non-art. They make small limited editions of fully handicraft garments.
They take care of the whole creative process of each garment: print designing, pattern designing, tailoring, printing, sewing… while at the same time try to be as respectful with the environment as possible, using materials such as organic cotton, Tencel, or water based inks.
Everything that surrounds them works as a source of inspiration: films, TV shows, the music they listen to, people they know… and they capture all this in their garments from a pop, and quite ironic, point of view.
In the following link you can find a video which describes the whole production process of an Ätakontu piece of clothing:

They have taken part in competitions like Ego Cibeles Fashion Week (Madrid), FibArt (Benicassim), or South 36-32N (Cadiz).
They have now started to collaborate with Vans. The American company offered them the possibility to customize some of their sneakers, which will be later given as prizes in some of the events sponsored by Vans this summer. In these events, Ätakontu will live customize sneakers and print t-shirts with exclusive designs for Vans. They have already been to Lisbon (Classics and Lisbon) and Bilbao’s BBK Live Festival. From 24th to 28th of July you will find them at the Salinas Longboard Festival.
